• To check for cancellations in case of inclement weather:
o GAMES: Call Jayson, Phil or the Bridge Soccer (417-206-6886 ext. 25).
o PRACTICES: Call Jayson or Phil. We may reschedule practice.

• Please be at all games at least 15 minutes early! Be at practices 10 minutes early.
• All kids MUST wear appropriate sized shin guards at BOTH practice and games.
• All kids need to bring their own water to practices and games.
• We encourage kids to bring their own soccer balls to practice (please put their name on the ball so they don’t get confused).
• We are Team #5 on the Webb City Youth Soccer Schedule
• Picture Day will be announced later – Money is due on the day we take pictures, check or cash. We will need to be at the game 30 minutes early for pictures!

PARENTS
• We will always do our best to make sure every child plays at least 50% of the game (most of the time more). While not everyone will have the exact same amount, we will be diligent and fair with playing time.
• We will begin to assign kids a specific position. We will move them around some…but will really try to let them learn a few positions. For the last several years they have roamed the field…now we start teaching them to excel in positions. We hope that many of these kids leave the “herd” mentality of following the ball around the field. Our goal is to teach them strategy. We want to begin developing some advanced skills.
• We will push your child physically. Our goal is to do at least 20 minutes of conditioning at the beginning of every practice. Please let us know if he/she has any limitations or medical issues. Our practices will consist of 20 minutes of conditioning, 20 minutes of skill development and 20 minutes of teamwork.
• It won’t be possible to turn your child into a good soccer player with just two practices a week. Please play a part in getting the team ready. Have your kids out playing and running 4 or 5 days a week (a ½ mile or more, IF possible…don’t turn it into a burden). Even if it isn’t a practice day, make a habit of getting your kids in shape by asking them to go outside for a jog. Have them play around with the soccer ball everyday. They don’t have to do any specific drills at home. Make a point to play some soccer with your kids daily. If you want them to do well in a game, then you need to play a part in helping them during the week. We want your child to succeed and practicing with them will help accomplish this goal. The time you invest will be well worth it.
• Don’t be negative about your child’s performance.
• NEVER badmouth your kids, their teammates, their coach, the opposing coach, players we are competing against, or the Referees. Be positive!
• Encourage your child before, during and after the game. Be proud of our kids…even if we lose. We will be proud of them no matter what the outcome of the game.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jayson or Phil at the numbers or e-mails posted above.

Okay...it isn't that I take flag football for K-2nd grade that serious. I actually didn't even think about it being Labor Day. My lovely wife pointed out that I had planned a practice on a holiday. OOPS!

So...sorry about that. Enjoy the picnics. We will see you all on Tuesday at 5:45.

Some general info:
• We will practice every Thursday 5:45-7:00 until the end of the Flag Football season. We are trying to cram in a ton of practice the first two weeks so that the kids feel comfortable and confident before their first game.
• Have your kids at practice at least 5 minutes early. We WILL end on time. I know how important it is to get them home and to bed on time.
• Since some mom’s want to know…we will just wear black shorts…I’ve got no idea what color the jerseys will be.
• Every child will need a mouth guard. You can buy these at Academy or Wal-Mart.
• We will make sure that every kid gets to handle the ball during the game.

Here's a little bit about me. I'm married to Janice, we have three kids (Justin 11, Levi 8, and Sydney 3). I work at Christ In Youth in Joplin, MO. I'm a Chiefs fan and married to a Bronco's fan. Makes for an ugly fall football season.

I'm really looking forward to working with your kids!

No practice on Sat March 24th

We are going to have to cancel practice on Saturday, March 24th. It looks like the field is flooded pretty bad. So...although I'd love to see the mud-fest...we will have to pass. See you all at the game.

Jayson

Great games so far...

We've had a couple of great games. The first game we won 2-1 and the second game we lost 3-4. I've been really impressed with how hard the kids have played. They are starting to figure out the whole position thing on the field.

Justin scored two goals in our first game.
In our second game, Jacob scored one goal and Justin had two goals.

We've had Christian, Ronnie and Jacob all play goalie. They have all done a outstanding job.

Janae is really starting to get the defender part down well. She is great on the attack.

Chloe is really improving her ball handling skills. I had the chance to see her moving the ball down the field in the first game and it was impressive.

Suzannah and Brittney have been a couple of our top defenders. They have both really been improving at using body positioning to move the defender to the outside.

Brendon has been running like crazy as a midfielder. It seems like that kid can go forever. He is getting more aggressive to the ball as well.

We are having a great time. The kids all really need to work on ball handling. That is probably the biggest area of weakness at this point.

I think the biggest strength right now would be in their endurance. I'm surprised at how well they keep going. I think we are going to change from a 2-2-2 formation into a 2-1-3. We may give that a shot next game.
